The integration of AI into business is as disruptive as the advent of the internet was. Artificial intelligence is having a permanent, irreversible impact on work, and in turn the global macroeconomic labour environment.
The implications are vast, extending far beyond the mere procurement of software to the way people interact with work, with each other, and with the organisations around them. This means the role of the CHRO has also fundamentally changed (and is changing). It now includes managing the complex, delicate interface between ‘carbon and silicon’. There are profound psychological, structural, and legal implications that need to be managed.
Over the coming weeks, we will publish a short article answering one of the 10 most significant questions we keep hearing from CHROs about AI.
The questions are:
- AI: Is your AI strategy a business transformation or just another IT project?
- AI: How do we harness human-machine collaboration?
- AI: How do we manage the pervasive fear of obsolescence?
- AI: How do we foster technological literacy?
- AI: What precise intelligence can advanced algorithms unlock?
- AI: Can technology solve the global talent crisis?
- AI: How do we handle "Bots Over Bosses"?
- AI: How do we prevent the scaling of historical discrimination?
- AI: How do we navigate a fracturing legal landscape?
- AI: How do we maintain social cohesion in a digitised workplace?
The answers are based on our observations in the companies we are working with. We have combined this with our own research and, yes, we have used AI to help us in this (which seems somewhat ironic).
We welcome your observations, criticisms, builds and additions to the points we have made. Let's get stuck in.
